May 31, 2021, St. Petersburg. Banca Intesa and the Italian non-profit Association Conoscere Eurasia, a regional partner of the Roscongress Foundation, will take an active part in the XXIV St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2021) to promote Italian-Russian trade and economic cooperation. Two panel sessions are planned, as well as Italian participation in the cultural program of the Forum.
The first session “The Italian Experience: small and medium-sized businesses on the way to a circular economy” is scheduled for June 2 within the framework of the SME Forum. It will start at 14: 30. It will be attended by officials from Italy and Russia, a large group of entrepreneurs from the two countries. The choice of the topic is explained by the fact that innovative solutions, the realities of a post-COVID world, and the Industrial Revolution 4.0 are putting enterprises on the fast track to a circular economy. A circular economy is an economic system based on the continual reutilization of resources and the reduction of waste. When resources are limited, a circular economy becomes a sort of inevitability, part of a new reality, and is supposed to apply to all sectors – from manufacturing and infrastructure to the service sector. Small and medium-sized businesses are poised to play an enormous role in these processes. This new challenge opens up new doors for such flexible organizations, which are capable of rapidly adopting and promoting innovative solutions and adapting to changing conditions. Italy's experience, where SMEs form the basis of the economy, could prove exceedingly valuable in the actual context.
The Business Dialogue between the heads of the largest companies from Italy and Russia will take place on June 3, at 17:00. The discussion will be attended by representatives of large businesses from both countries, heads of a number of leading companies. Italian Minister of Economic Development, Giancarlo Giorgetti, will address the participants. The gradual process of overcoming the pandemic and lifting related sanitary and administrative restrictions have created new challenges, as well as new opportunities. The participants of the Business Dialogue will answer a number of pressing questions. How can Italian and Russian companies find common ground to expand trade and commercial relations? What is the key to effective cooperation and mitigating destabilizing factors? How can a positive agenda and new tools for fostering cooperation be developed?
As a guest region from Italy, a delegation from Apulia, headed by the governor of the region, Michele Emiliano, will arrive at SPIEF-2021. It includes leaders of some innovative companies that represent mainly the medical industry.
As part of the cultural program, on June 3, 2021, the Government of St. Petersburg, the Roscongress Foundation and the Association Conoscere Eurasia will present a concert dedicated to doctors and volunteers “From classical Music to Rock” to residents and guests of the city. In the first part of the concert, which will take place on the Dvortsovaya Square, the symphony orchestra of the Petruzelli Theater (Bari, Italy) will perform, and in the second - the leader of the group “Night Snipers”, Diana Arbenina.
On the site of SPIEF-2021, an Italian restaurant, “La Stella d'Italia” (“Star of Italy”) will be open all days for its participants) under the guidance of the chef from Apulia Domenico (“Domingo”) Schingaro, owner of one Michelin star. He has developed a special menu of traditional dishes of the Apulia region for the guests of the forum.
